Mr. Flaherty is a registered Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience providing management and technical consulting services to government agencies and private sector in US and oversees. He has directed high-profile projects for the Army’s Chemical agent disposal program; DOE’s nuclear weapon complex; and clients in the oil and gas industry, including the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), a diversified international energy company focusing on oil & gas, power, alternative energy, and water. He is actively supporting special projects for the Board of Directors of TAQA. Mr. Flaherty also was an independent third-party representative to British Petroleum (BP) to ensure operational integrity of safety of for BP’s Prudhoe Bay operations as well as security of the facility and air transportation against terrorist attacks.
Mr. Flaherty’s areas of expertise include process safety management, vulnerability and security evaluation, environmental permitting of unique technologies, and technology evaluation. He has applied this expertise to various domains including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats; safety and security of aircraft fleets; engineering and safety of nuclear and chemical agent disposal facilities; and fossil and alternative energy research and technology assessment. He has been an expert witness and independent reviewer on high profile cases.
Mr. Flaherty holds a BS in Meteorology and Agronomy from Purdue University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
